The Andaman and Nicobar islands make up a tropical archipelago of hundreds of islands at the juncture of the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea, 150 km (93 mi) north of Aceh on Sumatra, and south-west of Thailand and Myanmar (Burma). A territory of India, the islands are covered by tropical rain forests. Only a handful of them are inhabited. |
