Nagur (Nagu'er, Na-ku-erh)(Travellers | Cities | Routes | Trade Goods | Themes)
A place in the Peudada (the Portuguese Pirada) region of Sumatra, between Lide and Pasai. The name is probably a transliteration of the Sanskrit Nagara, 'city'. "The people were an advanced establishment of the Bataks and the possessed sufficient strength to cut off Semudera [Samudra-Pasai] from its vassal Li-tai [Lide]". - adapted from J. V. G. Mills, Ma Huan, p. 121, n. 2
